Evan Zaleschuk - Registered Massage Therapist

Hello!

I'm Evan Zaleschuk, RMT

I am a Registered Massage Therapist (RMT) in Nelson, B.C. with over 30 years experience. My focus is on  massage therapy which can include many different styles depending on your body’s needs. A variety of modalities I use in my treatments include:

I graduated from the West Coast College of Massage Therapy in 1994, and since then, I’ve had the opportunity to work with a wide variety of clients and their unique needs. After finishing my studies, I moved to White Rock, BC, where I opened my first massage therapy clinic. After three successful years, I expanded to a home-based clinic and worked alongside four other amazing Registered Massage Therapists for 22 years. I’ve also had the pleasure of teaching at both the West Coast College of Massage Therapy and CDI College.

Throughout the years, I’ve trained in several different massage therapy techniques, but I specialize in visceral manipulation. My training with the Barral Institute in Florida was extensive, completing levels 1-6, and I was fortunate enough to serve as a Teaching Assistant for levels 1-4.

Evan’s massages are truly medicine. He focuses on my specific issues and really targets the root of the problem. In doing so, he has provided me with more relief than a handful of other specialists. Very respectful, professional, and passionate - I trust him with my healing process without reservation.

I'm not just a massage therapist though!

I recently made the move to the beautiful Kootenays, and I’m loving the chance to enjoy hiking, snowshoeing, teaching meditation classes, and listening to my ever-growing vinyl record collection.

I’m also proud to be on the Board of Directors for Gaden Relief, a nonprofit organization that provides humanitarian aid in Tibet, India, and Mongolia. On top of that, I’ve had the privilege of volunteering with White Rock Hospice for over 10 years, offering meditation classes and sitting vigils with those in need.

Visceral

Visceral massage, also known as internal organ therapy, is a gentle, hands-on technique that focuses on the body’s internal organs—such as the liver, kidneys, and intestines—and their relationship with surrounding muscles, fascia, and connective tissues. This therapeutic approach helps release fascial restrictions and adhesions that may be causing chronic pain, tension, or reduced mobility elsewhere in the body. By gently manipulating the abdominal area, a skilled visceral massage therapist can improve organ mobility, support natural healing, and even help break down scar tissue resulting from surgery or physical trauma. Visceral massage promotes better alignment, circulation, and overall organ function, contributing to enhanced wellness and body balance.

Myofascial Release

Fascia is a continuous, three-dimensional web of connective tissue that surrounds and supports every muscle, bone, and organ in the body—from head to toe, and front to back. Over time, factors like injury, poor posture, or emotional stress can cause fascial adhesions, leading to chronic pain, restricted movement, and tension. Myofascial release therapy is a gentle, hands-on technique that targets these restrictions, allowing the connective tissue fibers to realign and restore natural function.

At our Nelson clinic, we offer professional myofascial release therapy tailored to your unique needs. This holistic approach helps improve mobility, relieve chronic pain, and support long-term healing by tapping into your body’s natural restorative abilities.

Whether you’re recovering from injury, managing stress, or looking to restore balance in your body, fascia therapy in Nelson can help.

Book your appointment today and take the first step toward lasting relief and improved well-being.

Deep Tissue

Deep tissue massage is a therapeutic technique designed to target the deeper layers of muscles and connective tissue. Using a combination of hands, fists, knuckles, forearms, and elbows, the massage therapist applies slow, focused pressure to release chronic muscle tension and break down adhesions. Techniques can vary in rate, rhythm, and depth, and your session will be tailored specifically to your body’s needs.

At our Nelson clinic, your comfort is a top priority. You’ll work closely with your therapist to ensure the pressure level is both effective and within your comfort zone. Whether you’re dealing with postural strain, injury recovery, or persistent tightness, deep tissue massage in Nelson offers a powerful solution for long-lasting pain relief and improved mobility.

Swedish

A popular massage technique, Swedish massage is characterized by the use of long, fluid strokes. Swedish massage is effective in increasing circulation to promote a deep relaxation effect especially useful for stress management.

Sports

The goal is to achieve maximum performance and physical conditioning by increasing flexibility of the tissue using combinations of Swedish, Deep Tissue, and Myofascial Release. It is typically used before and after events/workouts, as well as for regular maintenance, to reduce the chance of injury and pain.

Craniosacral

Craniosacral Therapy is a specialized fascial technique that works to free the connective tissue surrounding brain, spinal cord, and surrounding membranes and bones, from restrictions. By gently manipulating the bones of the cranium, craniosacral therapy allows the therapist to remove restrictions that may be impeding the flow of the cerebral spinal fluid. This treatment allows a more holistic healing of the body, including conditions such as migraine, tension headaches, ear infections, post-concussion disorders, and spinal cord injuries.

We first started seeing Evan for treatments after my husband and I were involved in a serious motor vehicle accident. I suffered breaks, bruising and internal injuries, and was quite ill. My husband first met with Evan and, after discussing my injuries, Evan wanted to see me for visceral manipulation treatments, which I was not familiar with at the time. I was hesitant at first, but really needed help. Even after my first visit I felt some relief from the pain and upset. There have been ups and downs with my recovery, but without Evan’s skill in visceral manipulation and massage it definitely would’ve been a longer journey to physical and mental healing. Evan is a very experienced and skilled professional, knowledgeable, compassionate and good-hearted. My husband calls him “Magic Man '' because what he can do for your body and soul is truly magic!

I originally went to see Evan for work regarding concussion symptoms, and a stubborn neck issue from when I had hit my head. He has managed to ‘loosen up’ areas that have been stuck and bothersome for a very long time. I continue to book appointments because he just seems to have a knack for getting right to the spot that is causing the issue. Evan's method of visceral manipulation is gentle, highly effective, and he can really ‘dig in’ when needed. I would absolutely recommend Evan to all my friends and family!
